A White Christmas

We just got back from the mountains where we celebrated Christmas with the Mitchell family. I love going to Running Springs in the winter and watching it snow outside while drinking a hot cup of coffee by the fire. This time it was even more special that Lyla was there. She spent the last few days getting covered with grandma kisses and hanging with her cousins. Lyla getting some love from Grandma.

We got Jake an archery set for Christmas. This makes me nervous.

This blue monster talks and moves his head and eyes around. I think he has a British accent too. Lyla was really into it. I was so surprised that it didn't make her cry.

Christmas cocktails, anyone?

I made some festive cranberry-orange vodka in mason jars for Christmas gifts this year. I haven't tasted it, but it sure looks pretty.

Ingredients:

Makes 4 cups.

1 cup fresh cranberries
1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons water
1 piece fresh orange peel (2-by-1-inch)
3 cups vodka

Directions:

In a small saucepan, heat cranberries, sugar, and water until the sugar dissolves, the liquid begins to turn a light-pink color, and the cranberries just begin to pop. Pour the cranberries and the liquid into a large glass jar; stir in peel and vodka. Cover, and let stand at room temperature at least 3 days or up to one month. Strain before serving.

Wicked

We went to see Wicked last night in LA and it was so amazing. I'm not one for musicals, but I had heard so many great things about the show. So, Trav got us tickets for my birthday and we got to have a date night last night. Thank God for grandmas and breast pumps!

My favorite performance was "Popular". Galinda ( it's Ga-linda with a Gaaaaaa) was hilarious. The flying monkeys were freakish...is it really necessary that they be so scary?

So, next on my list is Phantom of the Opera. The Pantages theater is gorgeous and I would LOVE to see Phantom there.

Lyla's been busy this past week. She took her first bottle and went on her first "walk" around the neighborhood. She just gets more and more enjoyable every day.

Matt's Dirty Thirty

Another surprise party! This time, Matt got his payback for surprising Leigh Anne. He had no idea we were hiding in his backyard while he came home from boxing class. I'm sure he was glad that he showered at the gym! Lyla got to spend some more time with her buddy Ruby. Trav and I got to hang out pretty late ( for us, 10:30pm is late) and have some ice cream cake. Always a good time at the Landman house. Happy 30th Birthday Matt!
