due in december

Baby #2 is on the way and expected to arrive this december!  I haven't had my first dr/midwife appointment yet, but according to www.babycenter.com, I am roughly 7 weeks pregnant and the due date should fall somewhere in the second week of december (I know, poor kid will have a birthday close to Christmas!).  I will have a much more accurate EDD after my first ultrasound though.  Travis and I are so excited about our growing family...and Lyla is going to be an amazing big sister.  She LOVES babies!

Here's how I found out I was pregnant:  I had a suspicion that I was preggo on Easter, so I took a home pregnancy test.  It was negative.  I was really disappointed, because I really FELT pregnant.  I told Travis that if I still didn't have my period in another week, I would take another test.  Sure enough, one week later, the test had the answer we were looking for. I didn't have any creative way of telling him. I just came out of the bathroom with a huge smile on my face and he knew why.  Yes, Travis and I have been trying because we wanted our kids to be two to three years apart.  Success!  Baby #2 will be two years and three months younger than Lyla.  Perfect.  As for this kid having a birthday in the Christmas season, I promise that I will never incorporate a Christmas/Birthday celebration or gift.  The two celebrations will always be separate and distinct.  I have heard horror stories from many about childhood birthdays in the late December/early January timeframe that have scarred them for life.

We feel so blessed to have Lyla and so incredibly grateful to bring another Mitchell baby into this world.  We appreciate everyone's prayers as this new baby grows big and strong in my tummy.  So far, I feel great and have a huge appetite. I have a feeling that I will "pop" sooner with this pregnancy than my last. I will definitely post often with updates about baby #2.

p.s. We are still anticipating to close escrow on the house mid-May!  I will update on house news as this project progresses too.

Is that the reason why I am a fighter?
In my country we celebrate christmas on the 24th (my birthday) and they celebrate with tons of fireworks, my parents always made me believe that the whole celebration was for me. That was sweet but I still haven't had my own birthday party.

I hope you can always keep your idea of celebrating his/her birthday.
