We recently got a surprise when we went outdoors to find our trees in bloom with a beautiful display of light pink flowers! In autumn, these trees are such a nuisance because they have sticky seed pods of some sort that fall on the sidewalk and stain the cement. The leaves are large and a dark mahogany color. The leaves all fell this winter, leaving the trees very bare and, well, wintry looking. I had no idea that we were in for this treat.

These little pink blossoms remind me of the cherry blossoms in Japan. We should have our own sakura celebration in honor of these surprise blossoms! They only last about a week in Japan, so I am trying to savor them as much as possible.

It looks like spring has sprung! I am going to miss these little beauties.
