I wanted to do a "before and after" post at the one year mark, but time has escaped me and the one year anniversary of living in our home has come and gone. I still have these pictures that I took and wanted to updated with more recent images of our house. For a comparison, check out

our living room. i am always on the look-out for large, comfy, couch pillows that are not too expensive. i am open to suggestions if anyone knows of any places to shop! the white ones pictured here are from pier 1 and they are sooooo soft! the red cabinet behind the couch is a vintage find from an antique store in old town temecula.
the kitchen. at some point we will get some new barstools...we found some great white ones at ikea. one of the changes we made in the kitchen was taking out the computer desk and moving that into our bedroom. we put in a butcher block table in the corner in it's place (also vintage). it looks much cleaner now without all the office junk that always accumulates where the computer is.
the backyard. not much change here since we moved in. although it does seem like we are constantly out here just doing maintenance. a few months ago our grape vines were totally attacked by caterpillars and they just about destroyed them.

the entry and formal dining room. we hardly ever use this area. my dream is to someday close off the front portion and make it a den. we plan to use it as a sort of hair salon/office. we'll see what happens in the year to come!
